Senior Technical Writer

Experience: Experience: 5- 10 Years.
Location: Bangalore., India

Role Description:
The senior technical writer researches, develops and delivers quality technical documentation. Senior writer also reviews technical documents for technical accuracy and monitors quality of documents. 

Ideal Candidate: 

  • Experience authoring technical documents
  • A technical background with experience in telecommunications, data networking and Internet applica­tions
  • A proven record for managing teams and ensuring on-time delivery
  • Experience working in a team environment and providing feedback to team members
  • Comfortable with aggressive schedules and deadlines
  • Knows and practices technical documen­tation industry standards
  • Able to understand highly technical or incomplete product specifications
  • Familiar with various different types of technical information products
  • Experience in a variety of authoring tools, including Frame Maker, Epic Editor, Adobe Acrobat
  • Able to work independently

Responsibilities:

  • Research, analyse, and author technical documents
  • Initiate, develop and maintain close working relationship with product designers and Subject Matter Experts
  • Work closely with product designers, product managers and testers to verify technical content, accuracy and scope
  • Participate in reviews of authored content, and respond in a timely manner with corrections.
  • Prepare project plan in line with expected time lines in conjunction with team lead or project manager
  • Work closely with one or more junior writers to mentor them in their technical writing, product knowledge and authoring development
  • Monitor and review progress across multiple projects and generate associated reports on a periodic basis in conjunction with team lead or project manager
  • Participate in project and quality review meetings
  • Assist team lead in implementation of  processes and quality across multiple projects
  • Participate in reviews of authored content, and ensure timely response with corrections
  • Work closely with team members to share information and ensure technical and visual consistency across multiple document suites
  • Assist team lead in managing multiple documents and delivery schedules in a dynamic environment
  • Aid in the proofing of printed documentation prior to distribution to customers.

Required Skill Set:

  • 5-10 year Technical writing experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong technical aptitude and interest
  • At least two years experience leading teams and planning project timelines and deliverables
  • Experience in a variety of authoring tools, including Frame Maker, Epic Editor, Adobe Acrobat
  • Competent with variety of PC tools and applications
  • Flexible, able to adapt to changing requirements, scope and schedule
  • Able to meet aggressive timelines
